What is Strength and Conditioning?

  • Strength and Conditioning encompasses all aspects of workout training; speed, agility, strength, plyometrics, body weight, reaction time, 

 

What is the difference between Speed, Agility, Strength and Conditioning?

  • Speed: ability to move body in a direction as fast as possible

  • Agility: ability to move quickly and easily 

  • Strength: resistance, weight/body weight training

  • Conditioning: endurance, flexibility, coordination

Based on a client’s needs/ age, we will accommodate what their program should be (ie: on an athlete by athlete basis, we will progress programming starting with a body weight approach first).

 

My child is a beginner athlete or 10 and under,  will my child be weightlifting? 

No. They will be focusing on mastering their body weight first. 

 

Will there be weightlifting offered at youth classes?  

Depending upon the service your child is registered for and their skill level, that will determine if they are using weights in their program.

 

If they are not weightlifting, will they use resistance bands?

Yes. Resistance bands are a safe and effective tool for youth athletes. We incorporate these after they have established a solid body weight foundatio

I’m new to strength and conditioning/Fitness Training; how do I know what classes are best for me?

What should I come to if I am a beginner athlete?

  • Depending upon age and training age,we have services that can accomodate any skill level. Beginners are encouraged to discuss their goals and fitness interests with the OCSM Staff to fine tune the services best suited. Our initial conversation and assessment will determine what services are best suited for each client. 

 

What should I come to if I am an advanced athlete?

  • Advanced athletes are encouraged to discuss their goals and fitness interests with the OCSM Staff. Our initial conversation and assessment will determine what services are best suited for each client. 

What is a recovery session? 

  • A Recovery Session is a total body workout designed to mobilize soft tissue, flush the lymphatic system and increase blood flow to areas of the body that are under stress and potentially overworked. 

  • A Recovery Session can feature full body exercises, static and manual stretching, mobility work, core stability training and can also feature unique modality tools which aid in improving recovery.

 

Do I have to play a sport to train at OSCM Sports Performance?

  • No! You’re still an athlete even if you don’t play a sport
