Robert Reichert passed away on October 16, 2007. He was a magnificent
photographer and wonderful human being. He was as much at home creating
stunning portraits of corporate leaders as we was taking photos of
bikers, artists and dancers. His work appeared in galleries, in elegant brochures, on
the covers of national magazines, and on the covers of the poetry books and music
CDs of his friends. In his portraits, he seemed to zero in on the subject's
soul. And in the photography of clouds and flowers and bodies of water -- which
took up so much of his last year of life -- he seemed to expose the very
soul of nature.
He was a genuine artist and a genuine friend. Some of us
who knew him might remember his booming laugh, others his wry sense
of humor, and still others his innate generosity and kindness. But what
all of us have in common is that we will always remember him.
Robert began photographing at the age of fourteen while growing up on Long Island, NY. He studied photography at St. John's University, where he received a BFA. He went on to teach there upon graduation. He also taught at the International Center of Photography and Parsons School of Design. His work has appeared in Life, Time, The New York Times, Psychology Today, Forbes, Business Week, Parade, and many international publications. He has been commissioned by numerous Fortune 500 corporations to photograph their operations throughout the world to produce advertising campaigns and images for their publications and annual reports. He has won many awards for his work.
Known for his portraits of the famous and the not so famous, Robert was highly effective at capturing the personality and character in his subjects. He spent most of his career in NYC and then moved to West Hartford, CT.
